Mol an Óige Steiner National School opened its doors in Ennistymon, County Clare, in September 2005. Formed by a group of local parents and teachers keen to educate their children using the Steiner-Waldorf method, the school aims to cover the Irish primary school curriculum in a creative yet practical way.
Originally the school was situated beside the childcare centre at Data Display, Ennistymon before it began the application process for Department of Education funding. In September 2008 the New Mol an Oige Steiner National school opened with provisional recognition. The school is now situated between the Vocational School and the falls hotel in the centre of Ennistymon.
The school has grown considerably over the past few years and now comprises over one hundred pupils, five class teachers, one full-time learning support teacher, two part-time resource teachers as well as a number of special needs assistants.
